In 1996 I was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. I had developed an adenocarcinoma on the head of my pancreas. I was given the option of a Whipple (surgery), chemo and radiation. I did all three. After the surgery the "doctors" gave me no chance of survival as they discovered the cancer had migrated into my lymph system. During the chemo and radiation I was introduced to Patrick Quillin's book which became my food and nutrition bible then and as it is today. I followed everything in his book. I completely changed my lifestyle. Food had a new meaning. My outlook on life changed. I went through a rebirth. My doctors thought I was nuts and only grasping at straws until my 2 year survival date arrived. Once it appeared that the cancer was gone I asked each doctor who had attended me if they would take credit for the fact I was still alive? Each one answered with an emphatic NO! But each one did tell me whatever I was doing not to stop. To this day I still follow the nutrition protocols I learned from Patrick Quillan's book! Believe me it is never too late to change your lifestyle and diet.

This book is a true testimony of hope, incentive,and fact. I have stage iv Cancer and I have adopted various regiments of my protocol that I have taken right out of your book....Beating Cancer With Nutrition.... I was diagnosed in November of 2014 with uterine cancer that had matastisiised. I went through the surgery to debulk the tumor and out lying tissue. I electected not to go with radiation treatments for five weeks five days/ week and full strength chemo at the same time for six months that my radiologist and oncologist had encouraged and elected me to go on, when I read your book my husband and I knew this was a much better and safer way to go. Although from 2005 much of concepts of nutrition are great. Really helped me with narrowing down what not to eat and what to eat while helping others with cancer feel a little better. This book prompted me with questions to ask of medical team. Also packed with great menus and getting away from all those foods that have preservatives. Great book whether you are eating to beat cancer or just overall health to feel better. I have given this away and will buy another one. There’s truth to “Eat your veggies”. Valuable resource in our house!

This book has a lot of information but rambles through it all. The recipes are suspect as they call for things like Cheerios, Grapenuts, mayonnaise and lots of other ingredients that typically contain salt, sugar and other stuff.

I've done so much research that this didn't have much I haven't already read about. But for a novice, this is a good choice. His diet is very forgiving compared to other very strict vegan or vegetarian or juice-based diets prescribed for cancer. The new edition has a big cookbook in the middle which I could have done without. I also found his chart in the middle to be inconsistent. It also is back in the dark ages when recommending canola oil which has small amounts of carcinogens and other toxins in it. There is no such thing as a canola plant. That is FDA speak for 'Canada's oil'. Canada paid off the FDA to get a GRAS certification which is meaningless. In Europe, they call it what it is - rape seed. They mostly use it for animal feed over there and don't consider it a viable oil for human consumption. Also he says on one side of the chart that celtic salt is bad but on the other side, celtic salt is recommended as a condiment... I haven't listened to the CD but I did lend the book to a friend who just faced her first bout of breast cancer. She's been consuming and craving sugar like crazy. Hopefully, it will teach newbies to cancer to eliminate sugar and processed food, dairy, unhealthy non-organic proteins (not all animal protein is bad!), alcohol except for red wine if you can't do without it, smoking, etc. Also, there is a lot of information on supplements. I think this was originally written in 1993 (I don't have my copy on hand) so it really didn't appear to be that much updated from his older versions....I bought the book because he was featured in Ty Bollinger's 11-part series on cancer and he talked about music and its role in strengthening the immune system...He seems like a nice man....

This book provided additional info to all of the other books I've read on this critical subject. The most valuable single page of the whole book is on the back page which lists food categories of best, good, fair, poor, worst foods according to their nutritional "payload," anti-cancer properties, and glycemic index. I can easily check what is on the "best" list, then plan my menus with those foods. There are also sample menus to provide ideas of how to implement needed changes in diet. I'm now doing a six week try-out of the diet guidelines prior my third round of breast Ca surgery. While that is a very short test, I'm eager to see what change may happen to the size of the tumor, and will have an ultra sound just before surgery to determine that. Meanwhile, I have felt very good, with high energy, positive attitude, and peace. I plan to continue the diet post surgery. One must be willing to follow through with the anti-cancer diet for it to give full benefit, and that takes daily commitment!

I noticed some of the information is outdated so can't give this book 5 stars. However, I do applaud any physician for bucking the system and telling the truth.
