I bought this book for my husband who had never done any kind of art work like this. It gives instructions in a very detailed way and he has been able to follow it very easily and create a bear just was outlined in this book. I love it!

This book has lots of information and photos about the actual carving process of three different bears. However, that's about ALL this book contains.It contains NO information or pictures on:*How to find and select logs*Additional bear poses beyond the three listed*How to paint or finish the bears*How to display the bears*How to sell/market the finished productAlso, note that every photo in the step-by-step process is taken from exactly the same position, so some cuts and/or steps are not very visible. That said, there are enough illustrations to make up for this shortcoming.Bottom line: If you want to learn to chainsaw carve a bear, this book is adequate, but I'm hoping for a 2nd edition covering the materials listed above, as well as basic ratios for determining proportions on the bear.
