Was lucky enough to get this for only $9. I needed it for a cataloging class. Not quite as good as the full set, but fine for most smaller libraries. You really can not depend on the dewey numbers provided by the publisher. Sometimes they are not right for our library, and sometimes the numbers are just wrong.
I use it in a church library so I don't need the huge, $300 book for cataloging. This suits my needs perfectly. I have a separate book for the 200s which is religion. Most of our collection is in the 200s but I needed to know the Dewey Decimal numbers for other books as well.
Just what a small library needs. As states it is the abridged version, but if you have a collection that is only a few thousand items, this version of Dewey is all you will need.
I thought I was getting the actual DDC numbers by book. This book is more a do it yourself system.
As all librarians know, you can't do Dewey decimal without this book. It is an older copy, but I cannot afford a new one. I am pleased to have even this older copy.
The 14th Edition of Dewey is an update from our 13th edition. Dewey is a mainstay at the library when cataloging new books and other materials.
This is the perfect size and easy to use. I needed it for a few books and so far it helped.
Even though most catalog entries are now available online, this is a great reference book to have in the media center.
